Using NetWitness to Detect Phishing reCAPTCHA Campaign

  • by Mohamed Osama, Senior Consultant Incident Response, NetWitness

In this blog post, we simulate the recent fake reCAPTCHA phishing campaign that has been actively deceiving employees into compromising their machines. By leveraging NetWitness Packets (NDR) and NetWitness Endpoint (EDR), NetWitness Incident Response team demonstrates how organizations can detect these stealthy attacks before they cause irreparable harm. This type of attack exploits employee trust, leading to severe business impacts such as compromised systems, stolen sensitive data, and loss of customer trust. Accordingly, failure to quickly identify such threats could lead to severe business impacts, including data breaches, financial losses, and reputational damage. This highlights the critical importance of advanced detection and response technologies, paired with cybersecurity awareness as the key to preventing such incidents lies not only in technology but also in robust cybersecurity awareness and training. Stay ahead of attackers by strengthening both your human and technical defenses!
