HERNDON, VA – August 20, 2009 – the leading provider of next generation network monitoring and threat analysis solutions, today announced that its senior executives will present at three sessions at the 5th Annual GFIRST (Government Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams) National Conference being held August 23-28, 2009 at the Omni Hotel at CNN Center in Atlanta, Ga. GFIRST is the annual conference for the cyber security and incident response community hosted by the United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-CERT) and the Department of Homeland Security.

Details on NetWitness’ speaking sessions at GFIRST:

On Tuesday, August 25th at 3:45 p.m. ET, NetWitness’ Chief Technology Officer Tim Belcher will moderate a panel: “Fight Club – Advanced Sensor Data Fusion & Correlation.” During this session, Mr. Belcher will lead a panel of government experts discussing advanced approaches to threat identification and management that help address advanced threat challenges across the government.

On Wednesday, August 26th at 1 p.m. ET, NetWitness’ Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Amit Yoran will present on “Evolving National Cyber Security Strategies.” In this session, Mr. Yoran will provide an overview of attack methodologies directed toward U.S. government agencies and offer recommendations regarding cyber strategy, public policy and technology standards needed for organizations to cope with the ever-changing threat landscape.

On Wednesday, August 26th at 2:30 p.m. ET, Eddie Schwartz, NetWitness’ Chief Security Officer will lead a session on “Evaluating the Trustworthiness of Third Party Threat Feeds.” During this session, Mr. Schwartz will offer a discussion on the breadth, depth, accuracy, and reliability of various threat feeds, and demonstrate the fusion of threat data with live network traffic.

In addition to these speaking engagements, NetWitness also will be presenting two all-day pre-conference seminars , “Introduction to Network Forensics” and “Advanced Network Forensics.” Both seminars will highlight the basic and advanced uses of NetWitness Investigator Freeware and other open source and freeware tools.

NetWitness will also host its annual biker party at Centennial Olympic Park on Tuesday, August 25th to help raise donations for its 3rd Annual Ride for the Kids event which will take place on September 12th. This year, all donations will support the Down Syndrome Association of Northern Virginia (DSANV). Over the past two years, NetWitness has raised nearly $50,000 to benefit children with Opsoclonus-Myoclonus Syndrome (OMS), a rare neurological disorder, and Fragile X, a family of genetic conditions which can affect individuals and families in various ways.
